The Miracle Mineral

I started using this miracle mineral for sleep benefits and when I was doing weight training. Magnesium is a powerhouse mineral that supports everything from muscle health, stress, to insomnia! 75% of modern humans are LOW in Magnesium.

Magnesium heals depression, anxiety, sleep problems, fatigue, and even ADHD. It dramatically improves depression after only one week! It cuts fatigue in half — after 6 weeks of supplementation, it boosted energy levels at an increase of 50%! It even dramatically improves insulin resistance and decreases blood sugar. How do you know you’re part of the 75% that is deficient?

Signs you may be deficient in Magnesium
– Muscle cramps or spasms
– Fatigue or low energy
– Nausea or vomiting
– Irregular heartbeat or palpitations
– Anxiety or irritability
– Sleep disturbances

Food such as avocados, bananas, dark chocolate, and leafy greens are great for magnesium. However, it is not enough with what we can absorb through food. It’s highly recommended to supplement. I like to find ways for quick absorption and alternatives to pill or powder form.

My favorite ways to take it are taking it:

Warm Magnesium salt baths to relax my muscles and for the magnesium to absorb through the skin. (It’s our largest organ!) If you’ve been following on Instagram, you know I make my magnesium baths a ritual. It’s your own personal self-care spa experience. You can add essential oils and infuse the flakes, and you can also add the herbs of your choice to steep in the hot water. A great one is rosemary. (As seen on our Instagram reels)

This is a wonderful brand I highly recommend. You want to make sure it’s high quality and that the magnesium comes from highly concentrated crystals of magnesium chloride from the ancient Zechstein Seabed in the Netherlands. I get both of these from Amazon.

Another way is through their magnesium spray. This one is easy and I spray it on my inner wrists and on the soles of my feet and massage it in before bed.

Magnesium is a very hot topic right now, and rightfully so. It has so many amazing benefits. How were we missing this for so long?

1. Supports Muscle Function

Magnesium helps regulate muscle contractions, including the relaxation phase. It works in balance with calcium to ensure muscles contract and relax properly. If you’re low in magnesium, you might experience muscle cramps or spasms.

2. Helps with Bone Health

Around 60% of your body’s magnesium is stored in your bones. Magnesium plays a critical role in bone formation by helping to regulate calcium and vitamin D levels, which are essential for bone density and strength.

3. Regulates Blood Sugar Levels

Magnesium is involved in the regulation of blood sugar. It helps improve insulin sensitivity, making it beneficial for people with insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes. Studies have shown that magnesium intake can reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

4. Supports Heart Health

Magnesium is essential for maintaining normal heart rhythms. It helps regulate blood pressure, supports healthy cholesterol levels, and is involved in the electrical conduction of the heart. Low magnesium levels have been linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease.

5. Improves Sleep Quality

Magnesium is often used as a natural remedy for insomnia and poor sleep quality. It helps to regulate neurotransmitters that are involved in sleep, such as gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), which promotes relaxation. Magnesium also helps to calm the nervous system.

6. Reduces Stress and Anxiety

Magnesium has a calming effect on the body and mind. It may help reduce symptoms of anxiety and stress by regulating the production of stress hormones like cortisol. It also plays a role in the function of the parasympathetic nervous system, which promotes relaxation and recovery.

7. Aids in Digestion

Magnesium helps to regulate bowel movements by drawing water into the intestines, which can help relieve constipation. It’s commonly used in laxatives or as a treatment for constipation.

8. Supports Healthy Nerve Function

Magnesium helps transmit electrical signals in the nervous system, which is essential for proper nerve function. It also helps reduce the excitability of nerves, potentially helping with conditions like migraines or chronic pain.

9. Boosts Mood

Magnesium is involved in the synthesis of neurotransmitters like serotonin, which regulates mood. Studies suggest that magnesium supplementation might have a positive impact on mood disorders, including depression.

10. Helps with Protein Synthesis and Energy Production

Magnesium is involved in over 300 enzymatic reactions in the body, many of which are related to energy production and protein synthesis. It’s vital for converting food into energy and supporting cellular processes.

11. Anti-inflammatory Effects

Magnesium has anti-inflammatory properties and may help reduce chronic inflammation, which is linked to numerous health issues, including heart disease, diabetes, and arthritis.

I hope you enjoy! Let me know if this was helpful.
